Archived: Lawsuit Filed In Cold Spring Police Chief Hiring
A former Minneota police officer is suing the city of Cold Spring over the appointment of the city’s new police chief.
Charges filed Friday at the Stearns County District Court offices say Eric Johnson, a candidate for the open police chief position in Cold Spring, was selected for the job in December 2013. However, the city of Cold Spring hired another person for the job earlier this month.
Johnson is suing the city on five different accounts including breach of contract and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He is suing the city for $50,000.
The city of Cold Spring announced Chris Boucher as the new police chief on May 13.
