Archived: Monday’s Rainfall Brings Lake Like Conditions To Areas Of St. Cloud

April Showers bring May Flowers hasn’t been the story for the surrounding area as of late.

SCSU Meteorologist Professor Bob Weisman recorded 1.73 inches of rain on campus Monday as heavy rainfalls across the St. Cloud area began early afternoon.

Weisman adds that even though the St. Cloud Airport only recorded a glance from Tuesday’s thunderstorms, the May rainfall is "only" 4.68 inches through 6 a.m. Wednesday. The average for the entire month is 2.95 inches.

However, the good news is that the temperatures have gradually become warmer across the area after the cold extended its stay this season. Weisman says the average through Tuesday is now within point three degrees of the May normal value. This means that May will be the first month since November that isn’t at least 3 degrees colder than average.
