Archived: A Man Is Arrested After Being Believed Responsible For The Killing Of Jamie Wylie
A man was arrested Thursday morning in Avon as Benton County Sheriff’s Office believes he is responsible for the killing of the 31-year-old Foley man Jamie Wylie.
Benton County Chief Deputy Troy Heck says 25-year-old Travis McKinney of St. Cloud is currently being held in Benton County Jail and awaiting his first court appearance.
Deputy Heck says the arrest is the result of a long investigation beginning shortly after Wylie was reported missing in December 2013. The body of the Foley man was found March 25 behind a business east of St. Cloud. An autopsy determined Wylie had been fatally shot.
Assisting the Benton County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation are the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Cloud Police Department, the Sauk Rapids Police Department, and the Foley Police Department.
As the investigation remains open, anyone with information about the Wylie homicide is asked to contact the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at 320-968-7201 or Tri County Crime Stoppers at 800-255-1301.
