Stearns County and St. Cloud State University are participating in two statewide tornado drills today.

The drills are a part of Minnesota’s Severe Weather Awareness Week lasting through Sunday.

During the tornado drills the sirens will sound, SCSU employees and students should follow their emergency evacuation routes posted throughout campus buildings to the closest designated shelter areas.

If it were a real tornado, SCSU Public Safety says in a campus wide e-mail the goal is to put as many walls as possible between you and the storm.

The National Weather Service will issue the first tornado drill this afternoon at 1:45 p.m. and the second at 6:55 p.m.
