Archived: A 17-Year Old Boy Is Taken Into Custody After St. Cloud Police Respond To Gun Complaint
A section of St. Cloud was on lock down Thursday night after St. Cloud Police responded to a gun complaint.
Police Sergeant Jason Burke says a caller told officers of a person carrying a gun down the sidewalk. When police arrived at the scene, they saw a man matching the description running away from them. The officers then proceeded to set a 3 square block perimeter around 3rd Street North, Cooper Avenue, Division Street and 17th Avenue North.
Officers on the perimeter eventually arrested the 20-year-old Enrico Antonio Ritchard Howe of Zimmerman. Howe had a firearm which appeared to be a fully modified automatic pistol. However, the investigation found that the 20-year-old was not the suspect that initially ran from the police. A 17-year-old year old boy was later located near 8th Street South and Memorial Drive and admitted to police of being in possession of a BB gun and running away from them. The juvenile was taken into custody.
Police officers collected the gun as evidence and notified the business in the area. They were as a result put into a lock down status.
Further investigation into this incident will be done by the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force.
