A man has suffered serious injuries to his head and face after losing control of his motorcycle near St. Joseph late Tuesday night.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says 61-year-old Daniel John Wurzer of Cold Spring, was driving southbound on Island Lake Road near County Road 51 when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. 

Wurzer, who was not wearing a helmet, was still conscious and able to talk to deputies. 

He was later taken to the St. Cloud hospital by helicopter. 

The crash is still under investigation.
