A bloodhound helps capture an assault suspect late Saturday morning.

St. Cloud Police department’s Sergeant Jason Burke, says that a 66-year-old man from Sandstone, was walking to Cathedral High School around 9:20 a.m. when another man attacked him without cause. When the victim hit the ground, he was allegedly hit and kicked many times by the man. 

With the help of a witness and a bloodhound, police were able to track the suspect, 32-year-old Phongsavanh Saengchanthalath, at the 500 block of 8th Avenue North. He was later arrested and charged with a felony third degree assault.

The victim was taken to the St. Cloud hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
