St. Cloud State University’s Ashish Vaidya has been appointed to serve as Interim President following the death of Earl H. Potter III.

Vaidya was selected at a MnSCU meeting Wednesday, and will serve for the next two years.

Late President Earl H. Potter III was killed in a car accident Monday, June 13, near Brooklyn Center.

Vaidya previously served as provost. Now, Dr. Dan Gregory will step up as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. Gregory was the dean of the College of Science and Engineering at St. Cloud State since 2013.

“While we are still sharing remembrances and grieving, we must never forget that we are here for our students and their success.” Vaidya says, “We will move forward, together.”
