Archived: Avon Home Catches Fire Twice In Last Two Days

You can call it a case of extremely bad luck. Stearns County Sheriff’s Department responded to two fires at the same home in Avon on Sunday and Monday.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says deputies were called Sunday night to the home of 52-year-old Renee Sand of Avon. Firefighters and deputies arrived to the residence to find the garage was engulfed in flames.

Sanner says the initial report was that the adult sons of Sand were welding in the garage and came into the home, at some point they heard a “popping” sound and saw the garage on fire.

On Monday around 6:30 a.m. deputies and fire fighters returned to the scene to reports that the house was now on fire.

The only injury reported was that of 23-year-old Morgan Sand who burned his hand attempting to remove an ATV from the garage. He was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
