An Avon woman was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital after a vehicle accident Monday morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department says 38-year-old Nikki Christen was driving her Lexus SUV just before 8:30 a.m. on County Road 9, just north of Richmond. She was driving southbound on the road when she crossed into the opposite lane, went into the ditch and hit a utility pole. The accident caused significant damage to the vehicle.

Christen was wearing her seat belt and the air bags deployed. She received chest and leg injuries. The Chain of Lakes Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene of the accident.
