A Benson man suffered injuries after his car was struck by a garbage truck ran in Farming township Monday morning.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says the garbage truck driven by 33-year-old Chad Robertson of Willmar, went through a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 10 and Royal River Road. Robertson then hit a car driven by 54-year-old Steven Espelien of Benson. The car was sent air born, landing 30-feet from the road in a nearby soybean field.

Espelien  was taken to the Paynesville hospital for his injuries then to the St. Cloud Hospital where he is stable condition.
