Archived: Benton County Sheriff Issues Warning Of Thinning Ice On Little Rock Lake

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning urging people to be cautious on the ice covering Little Rock Lake due to the impending warm weather forecasted.

Chief Deputy Troy Heck says there is currently an area of open water on Little Rock Lake near the south end between West Lake Court and Sharon Place. Heck says the area has been marked with thin ice signs and people using the lake should be alert for these signals.

Those who chose to go out on the ice are advised to keep the minimum ice thickness guidelines in mind, while also being aware warming weather will also weaken what ice is currently on the lakes.
