Drivers in Big Lake should be aware of a day-long road closure starting this week.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says a section of Highway 25 between Pleasant Avenue East and Putnam Avenue will be closed on Wednesday.

A two-mile detour will be posted directing drivers along County Road 17.

The closure is needed as crews work on adding an extra track for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. The tracks cross Highway 25 just south of Highway 10 in Big Lake.

The closure will begin at 6 a.m. All roads are expected to reopen by 8 p.m.
