Archived: Camp Ripley Firing Large Weapons As Part Of Training

Camp Ripley will be conducting training exercises with large caliber weapons Thursday to Sunday in Little Falls.

The Department of Military Affairs says artillery units from the Minnesota and South Dakota Army National Guard is leading the qualification training.

The department warns that the community may see vapor trails when the 1-151 Field Artillery shoots rocket assisted projectiles from the very north tip of post to Hendrickson Impact in the south.

On Sunday, Camp Ripley will be firing off 60 rockets using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

Major Steven Hall apologizes for any inconveniences the loud training may cause.
