A man is currently being held in Stearns County Jail after allegedly cutting a woman with a knife in a home near Clearwater Wednesday morning.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says the victim reported that she was in a verbal argument with 25-year-old Michael Melbie of Clearwater, Tuesday night at the 1500 block of Dunmore Circle in Lynden Township.

The next morning, Sanner says the two engaged in a physical dispute where Melbie grabbed a large knife in a sheath and pressed it against the victim, cutting her thigh.

The 25-year-old was eventually arrested at the home for the offense of Second Degree Assault.

The case is pending a court appearance.
