Archived: Cold Spring Company Receives Grant From Minnesota Department Of Agriculture
Mississippi Topsoils received a Value Added Grant from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
The Cold Spring based company makes different soil products by using agricultural byproducts. They used the grant to install a climate-controlled storage warehouse. The facility will benefit the company in many ways but its main use will be to provide winter storage for green industry soil materials.
The Minnesota legislature and Governor Dayton invested in the Agricultural Growth, Research and Innovation Program in 2012 which provides funding for the Value Added Grant. Since then they have invested $4.5 million into the program which has helped expand more than 150 small businesses and agricultural producers.
