Archived: Cold Spring Man Arrested In Connection With Gas Line Rupture North Of Richmond

A Cold Spring man has been arrested on DWI charges after the car he was driving crashed into and ruptured a gas line.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says deputies were called to County Road 111 just north of Richmond around 3:40 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

When deputies arrived they found a farm tap gas line had been ruptured and was sending a high volume of natural gas into the air. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office along with the Cold Spring Police Department and the Richmond Fire Department were on scene for about ten hours until the owners of the gas line, Northern Natural Gas Company, were able to cap off and repair the line.

Sanner says he believes the vehicle responsible for the gas line rupture was a dark colored SUV, which had left the scene. However, while officers were securing the scene, another vehicle driven by 32-year-old Kyle Buros drove up to the area. Deputies established probable cause that Buros had been the original driver of the SUV and was arrested on suspected DWI charges.

Buros was taken to the Stearns County Jail and booked with 4th degree DWI charges and 3rd degree test refusal.

No injuries were reported.
