Archived: Conduct Violations to Hit SCSU Football

Code of Conduct violations may leave the Saint Cloud State Football Team with fewer members come Saturday against Wayne State. Sergeant Marty Sayer of the Saint Cloud Police Department confirmed that eight individuals were cited for underage drinking and that three people were given tickets for noise violations last weekend.  KVSC has confirmed so far  four of the 11 cited are current football players.

The disturbance came early Sunday morning at a house party at 1027 7th Avenue in St.Cloud. Tickets were given for noise violations to Junior Defensive End Josh Popanda, Junior Defensive Back Tyler Niedfeldt and Junior Defensive Lineman Joe Winandy. Redshirt Freshman Cory Callahan was also cited for underage consumption and fleeing on foot.

University officials said that suspensions have been given out but the players involved and how long they’re suspended have not been released yet. Head Football Coach Scott Underwood acknowledged the situation and violations of the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct, but declined to give names and the exact discipline at this time. Unidentifed sources close to the team believe that the suspensions could last throughout the season and may involve players that have started for the Huskies in the past. Stay tuned to 88.1FM and KVSC.ORG for more information.
