A Lake Henry couple escaped their burning house last Friday after they smelled smoke early in the morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a house fire on State Highway 4 on Friday. The couple who live in the house, Victoria and Ronald Goetzke told deputies that they smelled smoke around 1:20 a.m. and went down stairs and found a fire in their kitchen. They were able to escape but suffered minor smoke inhalation.

The Paynesville Ambulance and the Lake Henry Fire Department responded with the Stearns County Sheriff. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
