Archived: CSB and SJU to Host Presentation Two Women’s Stories: The Long Journey from Drugs and Prostitution
Next week is sex trafficking awareness week at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. During the week they will host the presentation” Two Women’s Stories: The Long Journey from Drugs and Prostitution to Healing and New Life” next Wednesday night.
The presentation features Edwina Gateley and Brenda Myers-Powell giving their perspectives on the underground world of sex trafficking through personal experiences and advocacy work.
Gateley is the founder of the Genesis House, which offers hospitality and nurturing for women involved with prostitution. Myers-Powell is the co-founder of the Dreamcatcher Foundation. The foundation works to prevent sexual exploitation of at-risk youth and offers them stability to get back out into the world.
The event is next Wednesday, March 25th at the Gorecki Center at 7 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.
