Archived: Designs For A Noise Barrier Along I-94 In Avon Are Scheduled To Begin Next Spring
A 3,400 foot-long noise barrier is in the works in Avon along Interstate 94.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is providing funding to the city for the barrier, which is estimated at $1.5 million.
It will stretch from the north side of I-94 from east of Chinook Avenue Southwest to Middle Spunk Lake.
The barrier will reduce traffic noise from the interstate, and more than 36 homes will experience more peace and quiet.
MnDOT adds most of the funds will come from the Greater Minnesota Stand-Alone Noise Barrier Program. Avon will pitch in 10 percent of expenses.
Plans for designs are scheduled to begin in the spring and construction in 2018.
