District 742 Local Education Activities Foundation is giving out about $34,000 worth of grants this spring.

LEAF Executive Director Bruce Hentges says the district has a total of about $14,000 in its activities fund grant. The Tech High School Athletics Legacy Grant received about $2,500.

Also, the Academic Fund Grant awarded about $14,000 to various programs. The Chinese & Spanish Immersion Program received $3,600. The district raised about $5,000 through its Night of the Stars event.

LEAF was established in 1993 as a way of improving school-based and extra-curricular activities. The organization has contributed $1.3 million to educational projects in District 742.
