Groundwater provides drinking water for families and helps farmers irrigate crops and water livestock, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

These are reasons why the DNR says it is important to ensure groundwater is sustainable.

Three local meetings will be held by the DNR to discuss the draft Bonanza Valley Groundwater Management Area Plan. The plan highlights actions over the next five years to sustain the use of groundwater in the Bonanza Valley area near Paynesville.
