The Granite City Folk Society is Skyy Consort and Emma Bjorling.

The name of the act gives a hint of this group’s interesting cultural mix: the Ilse of Skye is part of the Hebrides off the northwest coast of Scotland; three members also belong to a Québec-based early music group; and vocalist Emma Björling is Swedish. The band’s website description reads “Trans-Atlantic Chamber Folk,” which expands to “songs & tunes from Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Scotland, England, Québec, Acadia, the USA, as well as original compositions.”

You’ll enjoy some musical variety, with songs and dances accompanied by fiddle, cello, bouzouki, and banjo.

The concert is Thursday, January 19th at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud.
