Modern Architecture and Concrete Repair Focus of Class at Mississippi River Home
May 14, 2022 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Do you own a mid-century modern home? Struggling with your casement windows? Got concrete that needs help?
Learn about all this at Mid-Century Modern: Concrete and More. The workshop will be held at a one-of-a-kind poured concrete structure home built in 1938-39 by St. Cloud residents, Colie and Naomi Guy. This early twentieth century art deco wonder is the perfect setting for a class on modernist architecture and concrete. Experience polished concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling round windows and a spiral staircase that leads to a large rec room in the lower level. Artists and horticulturalists, the Guys designed their home on the banks of the Mississippi River to be the “House-of-Tomorrow.”
This class will increase your knowledge of modernist architecture, its challenges and benefits, and will empower you to tackle a wide variety of repair and maintenance projects on your own.
The tour and class Saturday, May 14th, 9:30 am to noon.
