Archived: Fire Causes Minor Damage to Mobile Home in Avon

A mobile home caught on fire in Avon Township late Thursday night with residents inside.

Stearns County Sherriff John Sanner says deputies received the fire report at 10:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Mobile Home Park located at 332nd Street in Avon. When they arrived, firefighters from the Avon Fire Department had gotten the three occupants out of the home. They were being treated for smoke inhalation.

The sheriff’s report says the fire was started by a 7-year-old child playing with a lighter near a bunk bed and the fire was contained to one bedroom only.

Sanner says the home received smoke, fire and water damage, but no one was injured. The Minnesota State Patrol assisted the Avon Fire Department.
