Archived: Former Person of Interest in Jacob Wetterling Case Wants His Seized Property Back
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – A man once considered a person of interest in the abduction of 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling is seeking property that investigators took when they searched his family’s farm in 2010.
Dan Rassier was questioned about Jacob’s abduction several times. The cloud of suspicion was lifted when another man confessed in September to abducting and killing the boy in 1989.
The St. Cloud Times reports that Rassier has hired a lawyer. Michael Padden says he’s asked authorities to return property including paperwork and some furniture.
Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says his office likely will have Rassier’s property back to him this week.
