The Stearns County Public Health Division of Human Services announced they will be giving out 200 radon testing kits for free next month.

Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas that when inhaled can cause serious damage the lungs. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and is connected to more than 20,000 lung cancer deaths each year in the US.

The distribution of the free radon test kits will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Waite Park Service Center on county road 138 on Wednesday, March 2. There is a limited amount of free radon testing kits so there will be a first come first serve basis and there is a limit of one test kit per family.
