Archived: High Speed Chase Suspect Treated For Cold Weather Exposure Near Avon

One man is recovering after exposure to the cold after he had fled sheriff’s deputies early Saturday morning.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says deputies responded to a short high speed chase around 3:10 a.m. Saturday morning. The driver of the vehicle was travelling as fast as 100 miles per hour along County Road 54 in Avon Township.

Deputies report the driver soon stopped and fled on foot into a swampy area. The deputy lost sight of the suspect and a ground search for the suspect was conducted, however was called off due to areas of open water and deep swamp land.

An update provided by Stearns County Lieutenant Jon Lentz says that about 8:15 a.m. Saturday, a caller on Shorewood Drive noticed a suspicious male near their garage. Deputies say the man found had matched the description of the fleeing driver. The man was treated for cold weather exposure at the scene.

No other information has been released at this time.
