St. Cloud State University has named Sergeant Kevin Whitlock the new Director of Public Safety.

Assistant Vice President for Safety and Risk Management Jesse Cashman says Whitlock will be responsible for the continued development, implementation and administration of the SCSU comprehensive campus safety program.

The university is touting Whitlock’s successful track record. For more than 20 years, he served as a park police sergeant for the Three Rivers Park District in Hennepin County. He is also a published author, a Grammy award winner for his percussion roles in the "Sounds of Blackness" and a member of the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association.

Whitlock’s office will be located within the Public Safety building on campus and he begins his duties Monday, August 18.
