Archived: Man Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Mail In Waite Park

A Rice man has been arrested and faces theft charges after police found mail in his vehicle.

Waite Park Police Department and other law enforcement agencies were aware of mail being stolen from residents. Community Service Officer Alicia Mages says officers stopped a suspicious vehicle in the early morning on February 7th. Mages says officers found stolen items in the vehicle of 24-year-old Reece Elliott Murphy which seemed to be from mailboxes.

Mages says the suspect is being held on unrelated charges. She says their investigation will show whether there will be any state or federal charges against Murphy.

Mages adds all of the items were recovered and given to the United States Postal Inspection Service for investigation. Those who believe their mail are missing should contact the Postal Inspection Service at 800-275-8777. The Postal Service will ship back all of the recovered mail to customers in the following weeks.
