Michelle Fischbach has been appointed president of the Minnesota Senate.

On her official website, Fischbach says it’s an honor to be elected as the Senate’s first female president.

She now lives in Paynesville and graduated from St. Cloud State University with a B.A. in Political Science and Government.

She was first elected to the senate in 1996 representing District 13, which oversees Stearns and Benton counties among others.
