A driver in Waite Park was arrested Wednesday night when an officer smelled alcohol.

Waite Park Police say at 9:30 p.m. an officer pulled over 33-year-old Abdiamar Ahmed Hassan of Minneapolis on 2nd Avenue South, who driving 46 in a 30 miles per hour zone. Once Hassan was stopped the officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol. A breath test was given to Hassan with a result of having a point-two-seven blood alcohol level.

Hassan was arrested and charged with 1st degree felony DWI, test refusal, driving after cancellation, gross misdemeanor, false name to a police officer and instructional permit violation and speed. He is currently being held in the Stearns County Jail.
