Archived: Minnesota National Guard To Organize A 5-K Run To Increase Awareness Of Suicide Prevention
The Minnesota National Guard is hosting Power of One Fun Runs Saturday at the Camp Ripley and Sunday at Arden Hills National Guard Armory.
Program Manager for the Minnesota National Guard, Major Ron Jarvi, says the events are organized to increase suicide prevention awareness in the military community.
More than 500 soldiers are expected to take part in the runs where they would learn about risk factors, warning signs and protective measures. They will then watch a video called I Am Only Human, which is about a loss survivor story.
Jarvi adds New York Times Bestselling author and the founder of Two Write Love On Her Arms, Jamie Tworkowski will also attend the events to talk about his book, If You Feel Too Much.
The event on Saturday start at 12 p.m. and the one on Sunday begins at 8 a.m.
