Archived: Multi-Passenger Vehicles Inspected By MnDOT, State Patrol

29 equipment and driver violations were found by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol as 28 passenger carrying vehicles were inspected for the prom and graduation season.

MnDOT says the inspection took place at the Mall of America and the International Market Square on May 17th. Buses, limousines and other passenger carrying vehicles were part of the inspection.

Becky Ellinghuysen, supervisor of safety and security operations in the Office of Freight and Commercial Vehicle Operations, says that the violations resulted in two vehicles and two drivers being placed out of service.

Over 400 limos and 350 passenger carriers are inspected and regulated by the Office of Freight and Commercial Vehicles in the state.

Ellinghuysen advises anyone who is renting a vehicle to research the company to ensure it has a “satisfactory” rating before planning their trip.
