Authorities have created a no parking zone in Watab Township near Little Rock Lake.

Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck says residents and ice fishers should be aware of a new no parking zone along West Lake Road. The road is on the west shore side of Little Rock Lake with a narrow roadway and little or no shoulder. The no parking sing is next to the lake where there is a sharp turn.

A recent garage fire on the roadway raised a concern for easy access of emergency vehicles to the area.

In the past, ice fishers have used the area as a parking lot, but vehicles are partially on the paved road surface. In the near future, any car parked partially or entirely on the road way will be towed away by the sheriff’s office.

People can access the lake for ice fishing from St. Regis County Park one mile north of the no parking zone. Off-street parking tickets are also available at St. Regis County Park.
