St. Cloud Police are putting out another warning about a phone scam that has been targeting international students at St. Cloud State University.

The issue has been ongoing since March, but recently more people have told police they’re receiving calls from a number that looks like it’s from the police department.

Sergeant Jason Burke says the number 320-251-1200 appears on caller I-D and the caller identifies themselves as a member of the St. Cloud police department. Burke says outgoing phone calls cannot be made from that number, and the call is a hoax.

People who have gotten the calls report they’ve either heard no one talking to one person claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service demanding money and threatening to arrest and expel the student from school.
