Archived: Pierz Man Damages Stearns County Sherrif’s Squad Car After Chase Near Holdingford Sunday
A Stearns County Sheriff’s squad car was damaged Sunday night after a pursuit and chase that started in Holdingford.
Sheriff John Sanner says a deputy stopped a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Aaron Derrick Swanson of Pierz, shortly after 6:00 p.m. on January 3 on County Road 17. While investigating during the stop, the deputy learned Swanson had active felony warrants for controlled substance violations. The deputy also believed he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
When the deputy asked him to perform field sobriety tests Swanson fled in his vehicle. He was pursued for several miles by deputies, and the suspect ended up striking a sheriff’s squad car. No was injured in the pursuit and Swanson was arrested and is being held in Stearns County on multiple charges.
The Minnesota State Patrol assisted with the case.
