Explore The Mille Lacs Indian Trading Post

Mille_Lacs_Trading_Post.jpgIn January of 2010, KVSC’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack traveled a bit north and east of St. Cloud to spend time at a site many of you have probably driven by, or visited in person.  This podcast takes you on a journey to the Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post north of Onamia, MN.  This Minnesota Historical Society site is a focal point of Ojibwe culture in Minnesota and has been in existence for nearly 100 years.  The museum and trading post offers many workshops and continues to be a meeting place between the Ojibwe and Minnesotans.  You will also hear from Tribal Elders regarding the preservation of ancient Ojibwe culture, issues and successes on the reservation, and the tribe’s role in today’s modern world. This report is produced with support from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
