Granite City Radio Theatre Season 13 Episode 4 with Special Musical Guest Dessa

The 13th season of Granite City Radio Theatre had a tremendous finale with special musical guest Dessa playing to a full house.

The nationally renowned stalwart of the Twin Cities music scene took to the stage at Pioneer Place on Fifth to perform four songs. GCRT house band Collective Unconscious was of course on hand to help, and Dessa was also joined by the wondrous Aby Wolf.

All the usual Granite City Radio Theatre delights were also part of the sold-out show.

Host Jay Terry presided over the whole night and took part in a range of hilarious skits. The skewed take on the news that’s been a mainstay of GCRT introduced Johnny as a new comedy collaborator on the show.

There’s also another installment in the “Wild Suburbia” series, which imagines Sir David Attenborough offer nature commentary on the phenomenon on Midwestern garage sales, and Heather and Makenzie joining Jay to marvel at the modern miracle products offered by the constantly creative conglomerate Successco. Finally, Jay delivered dispatches from the Honorable Citizen (formerly the Honorable Mayor).

Shades Brigade delivered their patented version of stirring radio drama feature tough-as-nails secret agent Jack Shade and his crew of crack adventurers.

And Dan Barth hosted his onstage trivia quiz with a heart helping of jovial jokes. The crew of contestants included special musical guest Dessa, KVSC Trivia writer Raine Hokan, and Great River Children’s Museum CEO Cassie Miles.
