Non-Profit Friends of the Mississippi River wins 2014 Environmental Initiative Award for their State of the River Report

Recently, the Friends of the Mississippi River published their State of the River Report, which won the prestigious 2014 Environmental Initiative Award, and was instrumental in legislation that makes Minnesota the first state in the nation to prohibit the sale of cleaning products containing triclosan, an anti-bacterial chemical that could have long lasting negative effects upon the river.

In this installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts and Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack talks with FMR Executive Director Whitney Clark.  Friends of the Mississippi River is a non-profit advocacy organization from the Twin Cities that focuses upon the health of the Mississippi and its watershed.

This program is funded in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Grant.
