Operation Baby New Year Seeks 100,000 Diapers for Families in Need in the St. Cloud Area

In this December 2015 installment of The Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, we find a little bit of light in the darkness as we hear about a volunteer driven community effort that is striving to achieve a lofty goal this holiday season.

It’s called “Operation Baby New Year” and the twenty-five or so folks who have dedicated their time to this project hope to be able to collect over 100,000 diapers for donation to various local non-profit organizations that need them.

In the studio today, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack visits with Connie Orth from the Lutheran Social Service Crisis Nursery, Kim Salitros from Anna Marie’s Alliance, and community organizer Justin Michael to discuss why there is such a great need for diapers and what you can do to help these smallest, most vulnerable members of our community . . . as well as maybe yourself at the same time!

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund.
