St. Cloud State University Comes Together With Community to Spread Awareness and Raise Money for Breast Cancer Research

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year (2016) St. Cloud State University and the community are coming together to spread awareness and raise money for research.

News Director Korina Borash talks with three women who are devoting their time to spread this awareness. Director of Health Services Corie Beckermann, Cancer Survivor Margaret Potter and Kim Orn with the American Cancer Society share their role in breast cancer awareness month. Margaret is also the daughter of the late SCSU President Earl H. Potter III who passed away earlier this summer. Margaret opens up with her story of being diagnosed with cancer in February 2015, going through treatment and now living a cancer-free life.

Corie and Kim are working with the university to host events from Sept. 29 through the month of Oct. 2016. All three women were on campus Thursday, Sept. 29 for a group photo- where everyone wore pink- and a speaker event in which women, including Margaret, shared their survival stories. Kim also highlights an upcoming walk that takes place Oct. 15 at Halenbeck Hall on campus.
