The Untold Story of Being Backstage for Hamlet at St.Cloud State University

In this installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota “the play is the thing.”  Upon Shakespeare’s birth some fifty and four hundred years gone, Tis Hamlet!

And Arts and Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack catches up with the maids, squires, and masters of our very own St. Cloud State University Department of Theater and Film Studies the night before the opening of this masterpiece of the English cannon as part of SCSU’s School of the Arts’ Creative Arts Series.

While some may imagine Shakespeare to be intimidating, these SCSU students who are performing and the SCSU graduates who have directed have stepped up to this challenge, and in the process demonstrated how, through camaraderie and hard work, a group of people mostly from area small towns can do justice to one of the most difficult works of art that the world of theater has ever known.

Hamlet runs through Sunday, November 23 at SCSU’s Performing Arts Center with ticket information available at www.scsutickets.com

This program is funded in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Grant.
