The Untold Story of KVSC Radio’s 50th Birthday Part 1

In this June 2017 installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack presents Part 1 of 2 of the Untold Story of KVSC Radio itself. Recently, KVSC celebrated its 50th birthday with a well-attended open house down at the studio where alumni recorded oral histories about their time at the station and how college radio at St. Cloud State prepared them for later in life.

Part 1 features the early years of KVSC, including interviews with the founders of station, original audio from that first year, a conversation about the “Tie-Dye Revolution” format shift during the 1970’s, and a look at the whimsical environment maintained by the students and staff over the past 50 years.

Plus, visit our Features page for oodles of oral histories, original audio from 50 years ago, and all sorts of special 50th birthday programming!

This program is funded in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Grant.
