The Untold Story of Langston Hughes at St. Cloud State University with Mike Dando

Black History Month kicks off at KVSC with the Untold Story of Central Minnesota take on Langston Hughes.

Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack talks with SCSU professor Mike Dando about this Harlem Renaissance icon and one of the most important cultural figures in the United State.  Nearly 100 years ago, before Martin Luther King Jr., before Civil Rights, and before Black Lives Matter, there was Langston Hughes and his direct impact upon our culture that can still be felt today.

St. Cloud State’s celebration of Langston Hughes takes place Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, from 3pm to 5pm at the Atwood Little Theater with a student poetry Open Mic, a speech by Christopher Lehman, performances by twin cities poets, and a panel discussion with the visiting poets.  It’s free and open to the public, and along with lots of poetry, there will be cake!

This program is funded in part by a Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Grant.
