The Untold Story of Mississippi River Mayhem with Author and Historian Dean Klinkenberg

In today’s Untold Story of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack dives into the Mississippi River and all its mayhem with author and historian Dean Klinkenberg.  From pirates to pandemics, Klinkenberg has sifted through 200 years of history involving the river to curate an overview of how Americans dealt with and adapted to one of the most defining geographic features of our culture. Through floods, earthquakes, and exploding steamboats, Mississippi River communities continue to persevere and celebrate the beauty of Old Man River.

Dean Klinenberg will be at the Beaver Island Brewery as part of the Stearns History Museum’s Hops & History program discussing his book, Mississippi River Mayhem, Disasters, Tragedy, and Murder on Ol’ Man River on Thursday, Nov. 10, beginning at 5:30 pm.

The Untold Stories of Central Minnesota is made possible through support from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
