The Untold Story of Pokemon Go and the Unrelenting Rampage of Cuteness and Community That’s Taking Over St. Cloud

In this lighthearted July 2016 installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack finds the city of St. Cloud inundated with Pokemon.

At first glance, this new game sweeping the smart phones and media outlets of America might seem like a fad and even a bit of a nuisance, but after a deeper look, it appears that Pokemon Go is beginning to create some very interesting social changes all by simply getting players to go outside. These gamers, who have climbed out of the basement, now live in an “augmented reality” with friends and strangers alike exploring the historic landmarks of our area in search of these elusive creatures because, as the saying goes, you’ve got to catch them all!
