It’s something parents fear that can happen to their child, but thankfully, in this case an attempt to lure a child to a car failed in St. Cloud.

The incident happened near Madison Elementary School, Friday between 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. St. Cloud Police say a 9-year-old girl was walking home from school when a strange car approached her. The man driving the car asked the girl if she wanted some candy and would like a ride in his car. The elementary student then ran to her friends and the car sped away.

St. Cloud Police now are asking for the public’s help to located the car and driver involved in the suspicious activity. The car is described as a loud, rusty older car that may have been grey. The driver is an adult man with a mohawk hairstyle and a second man is also believed to be a passenger in the car. 

Kidnapping and abductions are not an unfamiliar occurrence to parents in Central Minnesota. Just over 25-years ago Jacob Wetterling was abducted in his hometown of St. Joseph and his case has yet to be solved.
