A 77-year-old man is in critical condition after his golf cart was hit with a pickup truck in Watab Township near Rice Sunday.

Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck says deputies responded to a collision along West Lake Road at 3:10 p.m. The investigation shows Edward Ringwelski of Rice was driving his golf cart southbound on West Lake Road when it was hit by a pickup truck that was backing out of a driveway. Ringwelski was critically injured in the accident.

First responders performed lifesaving efforts on the victim and took him to the St. Cloud Hospital where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the pickup truck, 45-year-old Fames Truwe of Medina, was not injured.

Heck says the accident is under investigation at this time.

The Rice Fire Department, Minnesota State Patrol and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
